I would think so... heres a better way to find out whats going wrong. Drizzle a LITTLE oil down cyl #1 and do the test again. If the numbers are much higher.. then your problem is piston ring seal. If not, then its the gasket : )

How would my car have a bad head gasket it never over heated. Tho when i got engine form junk yard it had a bad themostat which when driving would over heat a tiny bit and then go back to normal. I changed the thermostata day later.Would that be the cuase of my bad head gasket.

nothing lasts forever
those motors just puke head gaskets at random.
you could also have burnt valves causing a slightly lower compression,... 20 psi isnt THAT bad.
is that cold? hot? dry? wet?

i agree with sebba. Put alittle oil in there, repeat and see. Hopefully the # doesnt change. Then its only the head gasket.

I dont think it would be a valve not seating correctly... because it would have been a lot less...

more than likely it is the gasket that is blown through over by the #1 Cylinder.. woudlnt it be real easy just to pull the head off and see??

Before doing anything like that.. you dont think its easier to put a little oil down the cylinder?
