Hey 2slow

The problem is that the front bar is off the hinges were its supposed to be connected and its bent to ****. So I either need a new front bar and hinges. i have pictures if thats any help. I've talked with a few people about it and they dont make parts for them anymore. i've also looked around junkards but with no luck. I need this fixed before I put on a new black cloth roof and its holding me back from gettin it on the road. Any help would be great.

thanks man

The tops on these cars are known to have problems with the first bow. I have the same problem with my 98 spyder. The two pieces of metal that are bent in half need to be replaced wich i think you know. You can find them on ebay put in search year and covertible top you have to scroll through but there is a guy on there that sells them for 100 dollars. They are supposed to be much stronger then the factory ones and about a 40 minute install. Good luck

I just got a 98 spyder but it has no back seat and all that the guy gave me with it is the rag top but I am obviously missing a few things because there is no folding arms of any sort... does anyone have a breakdown of what I need to make the top work or if they know where I could get the parts??? or even some pictures of your mechanical parts of your convertible.

I got a great deal on this car but I believe the guy got tired of not being able to find a way to get the top to work...

okay the root of the problem is the elastic underwear material they used to draw the bar up when you put the top down i just removed the arms and assist my top its cheaper and no one but those who own a spyder know why

My top works great but does anyone know where to get the plastic cover that you can put over it when it's down ? The previous owner said it blew off and broke which he said is very common. It's not a necessity but the dealer wants $700 for it and I have gotten no responses from any junk yards even using car-parts.com. I even had a local junk dealer search for me and has yet to find one.
