Default covert a non turbo spyder into a turbo

Ok this might have been gone over before but I looked through the FAQ's and didn't find anything. I was wondering what I need to convert or rebuild my 2.4 L engine on my 1999 eclipse spyder gs into a turbo or if turbo could be added on. Also anything important I need to know before I get it done and what I would need because I'm trying to add more power to my car. I know this is possible because Ive seen damn near everything....Example: A 1994 Plymoth Neon with and engine that sounded like an old school SS car. It was on the freeway and I raced it and lost but I seen a lot of gauges on his dash before but damn it was crazy how quick he spead off and how loud it sounded. Anyways is this my best option?

Its not a very comon thing, b/c those motors werent built to be turboed like the 420a.. It can be done just like the 420a, but you have to keep the boost levels down.. Check the thread in the turbo section on the 420a turbo's...

he doesnt really have a 420a, so they are very different. The 4g64 is a much better platform than the 420a IMO. Here is a really good write-up on turbocharging the 4g64. He goes though everything you need

Def. true, TE, all sorts of people turbo'd thier 4g64 on Club3g.com with Tearstones kit... apparently theyre taking to it better than the 6g72... wonder if the same kit would work with the 4g64 in the spyders?

Only GST spiders had a 4g63t.... other than that they were 4g64 (2.4L)

The 4g63 NT only came in the 1g's.

why would you want to do that?

No, I wouldnt imagine that they could be. But you may want to run it by Emonz or TE. Though, Im certain that there is no 2G Spyder with a low trim (RS/GS) that uses the 4g63 motor. The only Eclipses that recieved NA 4g63 motors were the low trim of the 1st gens.
