Eclipse GS Spyder: Convertible FWD model equipped with a 141hp 2.4L 16-valve SOHC Mitsubishi 4G64 engine

it appears they're right...i got this from wikipedia and it says that all spyder gs from 96-99 had the 4g64 in them...although i have known a few people who have had spyder eclipses that had the 4g63 n/a in them and i cant imagine why anyone would waste their money to put an n/a 4g in their car when they can spend just about the same to get the 4g63t instead...im stumped...and to you TE would putting the 4g64 crank into the later model 7 bolt 4g63 eliminate or cut down crankwalk at all...

ORIGINAL: anthony_piaa

my 97 came with a 4g63 n/a that we turboed
Nope, it didnt. They ONLY came with a 4g64. And i really dont see anyone ever dropping a 4g63 n/a from a 1g in there. It doesnt make any sense. How do you know it was a 4g63, and same to pimp, how do you know they had the 4g63?

An d yes you still have the crankwalk problem because that issue does not originate with the crank. It is a culmination of a bunch or stuff

kk gotcha...and yes i know it was a 4g63 b/c i looked at it and other than the turbo set up it looked exactly like the one that i had in my stock gst...idk its not making much sense to me...unless and this is just pure chance that anything like this could ever happen but mabe all of their turbo's were old and decided to hit the crapper and they just didnt have the time or money to replace it so they just let it be n/a...idk lol thats about all i can come up with

then it wouldnt run correctly, and still i dont see anyone doing that. But the problem would be now you have a low compression NA engine. It will run like ****. The 4g64 looks almost identical to the 4g63. They share the same block besides internals. The one thing that looks different is the head. So maybe they had a DOHC head swap, which is very common

that could be a possibility i didnt know they were that similar i thought it was random chance that they shared similar numbering for the engine name...ok so mabe they were 4g64 if they look that close to the same...although it did look like a 4g63 head and valve cover...
