Crank walk
So.....you guys were correct about diagnosing my clutch problem....it was partly due to having crank walk. I suspect that I've had it for quite awile due to the fact that I have 140,000 and I've been having clutch problems for several years. The "walk" is about a quarter of an inch. I'm trying to hold onto the car for another year. Is it safe to drive until I get rid of it or it dies?????

RE: Crank walk
i doubt its a quarter of an inch. did u pull the oil pan off and measure it? .030" means out of spec, so .25" means its already dead. If you can hear the ticking whe pushing in on the clutch its almost dead, and when it is, it dies all of a sudden. To me, one day I started it up in my garage and i heard the clicking even with the clutch out and it in neutral. I would not go into any gear AT ALL. I called it quits then and called the tow truck. Hopefully you wont be stranded somewhere when it happens.
Start calling shops that can do the swap for you right away. Thats my advice.

RE: Crank walk
Well, I went to the dealership to have to clutch replaced and mentioned the crank walk thing. They replaced the clutch and they metioned the quarter of an inch movement. I haven't noticed ANY ticking with the clutch or anything out of the ordinary. I'm driving it around town only, so I 'm not too worried about being stranded. Thanks for your advice!
