Default Crankshaft Replacement Cost?

Hi there,

I was wondering, about how much would it cost to replace a crankshaft in a 95 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and is it possible to do myself if I have some basic engine experience? Also, if anyone lives Raleigh-Durham area of NC and would like to help, please PM me, any information is much appreciated.

Regards,

I am not from Raleigh area, but I do know that you can relace the camshaft. If you have experience, you should be okay. Just make sure you don't knock any of the lobs.
Depends on what kind of camshaft you choose.
I have found out through research that N/A camshafts provide more airflow than turbo cams. You might want to check that out. In the mean time, I'll do the research and find out the exact results.

O, sorry, an error in the post, I accidentally typed camshaft instead of crankshaft, it's now corrected, sorry about that.

i was wondering which you were talking about. i am also wondering, why do you want to replace you crakshaft? you should never need to unless you are running 600+ hp or you kno for sure your crank is walking. You cannot replace it with basic engine experience. You have to completely remove you engine and take apart the bottom end. To give you an idea of the expense the dealer charges $4000+ If you have crankwalk for sure, dont replace the crank, go to somewhere like roadrace or magnus and have a 1gen engine swapped in. If you onyl replace the crank you are paying the same price and have a 75% chance of it coming back.
