uhhh yeah, after reading some stuff i am worried i have crank walk. Tapping noise coming from the engine etc but anyway i was wondering if i put in a new crank if that would keep crankwalk away?

no. but i called buschur racing and they said when the thrust bearing goes bad, its lets the crank walk around, thus the word ' crankwalk '. or thats at least what i remember them saying to me.

ehh...i just had a lot of spare time at work. there was a period there where i had to actually do some work.

but to answer your question, NO putting a new crank in will not help your cause. crank walk has to do with the block. the only way to put your worries to rest, is to buy a 6 bolt bottom end

also...try to do the swap yourself. shops charge insane amounts of money to work on DSMs. i got a quote from a shop to put in a new clutch, and it was something like 1500-2000....wtf is that!?
ive been working on it for about a week in my spare time, and im gonna be back on the road in less than 3 days.
back to the point....if you do the swap yourself, its actually not a big investment. just buy the bottom end, and a chiltons, and you are ready to go.

well i have looked into other tried solutions on the crankwalk and magnus motorsport has had a new theory on a solution where you could use the 1g oil squirters and then replace the bearings and crank. Also another thing that i read once, i dont know where. But from parts out of a hyundai you could replace things in the 2g to reduce it. go to www.magnusmotorsports.com

CW sucks. One of my DSM's has it. I am trying to find a "trustworthy" shop or person do do my swap. What suck is there are only realy two ways to be sure. 1. your CAS shears off and engine dies. 2. Pay a shop to drop the tranny and measure the crank movement (approx 500 bucks). I have only found a couple of solutions. 1. cheapest 6 bolt swap 210 to 195 hp though. 2. Magnus motor fix (say with a stroker) up to 4500 plus install. 3. www.overbore 2800 plus install for a 7bolt that guarentees no crank walk.

To own and love a DSM is to be into S&M.

I have a 6 bolt in my car and it is ticking. Could this be a sign or is it just ticking lifters. ?

its just your lifters, just keep up on the oil changes and it will be fine. there is a way to replace them on vfaq with out taking your cams off if you wanted to fix the problem. my car did do it when it was running and my other eclipse did it, so no big deal.
