hey guys, new to this forum and i was thinking about a new project to take on...anyone know if the EVO 9 motor and tranny will fit in a 95-99 GSX? or will the motor bolt up to the stock tranny...or will the motor bolt into the bay period? im thinking about getting a GSX and doing a swap and then building the EVO motor up and seeing what i can get out of it...

Nope the motor is 180 degrees spun around from the Eclipse to the EVO. so the throttle is on the opposite side which means the tranny ect ect ect as well

I was a little worried when i saw the whole SRT4 driver thing but i guess since your not being a dick like that other dude thats cool.

Well like emonz said really not possible. However you can buld up the DSM 4G63 block to be much stronger than the EVO motor anyway.

By the way... how do you find your SRT4 in comparison to an EVO 9 overall?

If you want to swap anything into a 2g to make it a nice strong engine then i say get a 6-bolt 4g63 out of a 90-92 eclipse and build that up.

yea i had a feeling it wasnt going to work bc it was completely backwards but i thought i might try...i love the neon power wise, it gets spanked off the line by just about everything but once you get half way through 2nd gear it comes back big time...from what ive experience the evo, the sti and the srt are all neck and neck at stock points. the neons downfall is the front wheel drive and wheel hop...thats why i wanted to get the gsx and see what kinda strong motor i can put into it and build it up. and as for this 90-92 motor, it comes from the eclipse? bc i had a 90 plymouth laser(same car) and that motor didnt feel as strong as the motor that was in my 95 gs...ive had a lot of cars lol and lookin for another new toy, so any input in this project that im thinking about would be greatly appreciated...just let me know what you think should be done and if anyone knows someone selling a gsx in good condition let me know...im on SRT4forums all the time but i will stop by here a few times a week if not once a day and see who has any input...and i thank you guys so far you have been really cool...nice meeting yall and i hope to learn from you guys

well if it was a turbo laser then yes its the same motor. If it was a NA laser then no. But the 6-bolt 4g63 is one of the best that mitsu made and when built up can take alot of abuse. All the dsm drag cars still use these motors and run into 11's and 10's eisily.

95 Eclipse N\A motor is Junk
90-92 Turbo motor is the best out of all the DSM motors.
EVO motors are better than those but cant be used
