Default Dead Spot

Hey Fellas,
So I installed a big 16G last week and then blew away my head gasket. Got it all fixed up and the car is running fine for the most part. However, strangely when I really get on the throttle and shift from 1st to 2nd I get a big dead spot right after shifting. Also, when I'm just cruising and I give it gas, it kinda sputters until it picks up around 4000rpm? Do you think this is a fuel related problem? What do you think?

i think that sounds like the symptom of venting your blowoff valve to the atmosphere.
is it recirculated or no?

Could be fuel cut.. What boost are you running your 16g, and what mods do you have for your fuel?

Its sounds like two different types of issues. The deadspot sounds like a vented BOV. then the sputtering souunds like bad plugs or wires. Do you have a wideband guage?

This will be a classic.

We need to sticky this everytime a noob tells us there is no difference between recirc and venting. That is if he actually is venting.

Apart from that, i do remember the GST having a similar problem. What i would suggest is replacing your plugs and wires and also resetting the ECU. You can do that by removing the negative battery terminal and waiting about 30 mins. Dont forget to turn the ignition on after you remove the terminal just to drain any excess power.

Just to make sure...... what kind of gas are you puttin into the car?

Again, are you venting?

Nope, not venting!!! I'm running about 21 psi and I have a SAFCII injectors (550) and fuel pump (255). I had installed and dynoed tuned last week and it ran great! But then I blew the head gasket and they had to replace that. Now it has that dead spot. Coming to think of it, he was messing with one of the connectors on the plug wire. Maybe the contact isn't that good on one of them. Would that cause the problem?

I think you are on the right lines. There is a missfire or something going on.

Maybe you have a small boost leak.

Where are you getting your gas?

Just had another thought. Take of your upper intercooler pipe and clean out your throttle body.

well if it was dyno tuned then i doubt its a problem there. I like sebba's suggestion too. Clean out the throttle body with some carb cleaner. And id take a look at the plugs and wires.
