Default Deciding on gsx, please help

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should get a gsx. What are main problems that they have? Transmissions, engines? I don't know anything about these cars.

this is stuff you can lookup and search on google since it is asked on every forum ALOT.

But start by looking up crankwalk.

It's kind of difficult to explain that without more info on the specific car. BUT....
The transfer case can be a problem sometimes. There was a recall on the 1G T-cases. If you are getting a 1G, try and find out if they ever had the t-case replaced under the recall.
Other than that, it's the normal issues that happen with any 4G63T vehicles.
Like I mentioned, it is hard to go in depth, unless you are looking at a specific vehicle.

I have been looking at a 98 white GSX for 7000 on cars.com, seems I can't copy the link now because it says it may have been deleted or something like that. If you search for it though it will still come up. Try searching for it please.

How does it look?

If you keep up with the maint. on the car, they will hold up. But only as well as a 2G DSM motor CAN hold up. It will still be prone to crankwalk. But its a tossup, some do it at 1000 miles some at 120K, other dont do it at all (or are wrecked before they can).
What Im saying here is, theres nothing one can really tell from looking at a picture of the motor bay of these cars. If there is, that means its so bad that common sense would dictate not to purchase the car even if youve never seen one before. Like Jon said, anything else can be cleared up by simply doing a search on the forums here.

Looks nice.
The only problem I see with it are all the mods.
This is not necessarily a bad thing, but in my experience, car with that many mods, have been romped on.
Do not buy it sight unseen, or with out a test drive.

Take a good look at the strut towers for rust and the lower ball joints/control arms. They are common areas to look for.
