Dont Know Which Car To Choose From Need Advice???
nothing its the same motor. i mean the eclipse was never even produced in japan so i guess they mean evo motor. whitch is the same motor.....lol
Thanks for the info David...... Something told me they were the same. I just didnt know why on the manifold it said Cyclone and on the other it didnt say anything. Thanks again!
What do you mean by 6 bolt Engine? Heard it before but not so sure... I appreciate all the help I am getting thank you again! Yea I heard a lot of people swap to a 1st Gen Engine in their GSX's. Now do the 1st Gen Engines have the same problem about the Crankwalk?
The 6 bolt refers to the # of bolts on the flywheel. Where the 1993-1999 have the 7-bolt where your correct the infamous crankwalk can happen. That is the reason people will swap in the 6-bolt because it doesnt have the crankwalk issue that the 7-bolt did.
A co-worker of mine who sells Subarus wanted an STi hardcore..He knows every little spec and detail, just everything about those cars...Guess what he ended up ordering and buying...A 2006 Evo MR..it's a badass lil ride too. The 2g's are awesome, I own one..but why do a motor swap?? Just buy the GS-X and mod it out.
Thanks Guys! Im going to start looking for a GSX soon. Are all 1st Gen Engines the same or is there a certain one that is better, like what year is better? Yea I heard those EVO MR's are really nice, I was reading the specs for them yesturday. I have a question about when the engine is swapped. Say I have 99 GSX with a 1st Gen engine when I go buy parts for it I dont say I have a 99 GSX right. I have to say what ever year I have of the 1st Gen Engine.
well the 6-bolt was produced from 1990-1992.5 and then they started with the 7-bolt from 1992.5-1999. But both engines are almost exactly the same, so to answer your question, it really depends on what parts youd be looking for. Anything outside the engine youd just get for a 2g. Any internal stuff would be 1g. I could try and get more specific, but ill just keep it at that
Well from experience with my 6 bolt. Previous owner did the swap with 1gen engine, only 2nd gen part used was the throttle body and exhaust manifold. Depending if u use the 2g head or decide to use 1g head you will get the random missfire code while cruising and sputter until u drop ur rpm to at least 2k then u can resume cruising and accel. If you go with the 1g head and CAS you can play with ur timing but downside, you can get that random missfire code. To correct that the best way is to get dsmlink since it has the inverted CAS signal option. Or do the other cheap mod to fix it. If you use the 2g head u dont run into that problem. This info i got from dsmtuner from somebody who did it. He get in more detail, search there forum because i forgot the link to the specific forum
