Default Door handles?

Both my driver and passenger side will not open from the outside. I think the door handles broke cause I took off the panel of the passenger side and the rod looks like its still hook. If anyone knows whats up with this please help.

No its not a child safety lock or anything like that! It took two times before it would open, the next time it took five times, now nothing. Almost the same thing happened to the passenger side about two weeks ago. When I removed the panel I pulled the inside handle & the rod moves for that handle when I pulled the outside the rod for that handle did not move.

If you are referring to a GenII Eclipse- this is a common occurance. If you feel absolutly NO resistance when lifting up on the outside doorhandle, it looks like u r going to need a new doorhandle. You can verify this easily once you get the doorpanel off and taking a peek at the rods behind the outside doorhandle. You may have to get it painted to match depending on what your dealership is able to provide you. Replacement is very simple with the window rolled up and the doorpanel removed. Be absolutely careful when reinstalling the power doorlock electrical switch on the back of the key cylinder. This is easily broken and will result in your powerdoorlocks NOT responding to the drivers key. Good Luck!
