pros to dsmlink:
cheaper
easier
quicker setup
can do it yourself for sure

cons to dsmlink:
limited possibilities
not that expensive so people won't think you're rich

pros to ems:
more possibilities
people will think you're badass or good at spending money
more chances you'll be whippin ***

cons to ems:
little more expensive
probably will need to spend money to get it tuned right
longer setup time = longer time before you're smokin ***

ORIGINAL: echostats

And before people slam me for saying that EMS is not much more expensive than dsmlink... $600 dsmlink + $250 eprom ecu = $850

You can get the EMS system for $1k.
where can you get an EMS system for 1k. No way. Its gonna cost over 2k all in all for the EMS including tuning and dyno time. With the DSM link you can tune yourself. Now I definetly agree with you guys that EMS will have far better gains and has alot more functionality than DSMlink. But from what he is asking and what he is looking for out of his car, i dont see him needing more than DSMlink. Cuz he didnt say, im trying to get the most HP i can with this car. He said he wanted to know if DSMlink was good for 500hp or if he needed a standalone

jeez i leave from work yesterday afternoon and come back to 23 responses.... egh lol well... yes it will bea track and interstate car BUT will also be my daily driver... so for simplicity purposes i think i'll prolly go with the DSM Link with the MAP Translator... and im not worried about "sounding rich" lol if they can't look at my engine and turbo setup and see that i have put a shtload of time and money into that.... not to mention that i'll absolutely desomate any somewhat hooked up evo or sti around than i really don't give a **** about their opinions lol well thanks guys for all of your help and opinions.one more thing i wanna get yalls opinion on....... i was origionally planning on keeping my GSX relatively stock other than intake, and turbo back exhaust and just build my race engine on the side but i think i'm gonna just progress and get used to the car as it progresses in hp. after i get used to it stock, then up to a EVO III 16G, tune, get used to what 350 feels like, then a lil after that get my fp3052. would yall recomend building on the side or progressing?

build on the side. Youll have a slower car for longer, but in the long run youll spend a hell of alot less money than keep buying parts then getting rid of them. Plus its alot easier to just do it once and be done.

Wait and do it all at once. If you want to get use to different amts of horsepower than de tune it, and gradually up the HP. I don't think you will need to though. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders, and some decent ability, so learning how do drive it won't be a problem. If you are looking at 500-600+ wheel HP then I think you will need more than the 3052. It is rated at 520-650 hp and with the 20% AWD power train loss that puts you at 416-520awhp.
