RE: Eclipse 95 GS need help
The it happen, nothing is dim or even the radio still working well. Only the rpm cuts off. So basically car is still running and rpm just drop about 500 rpm and back to normal.
Can this also a problem from having a header without o2 sensor not connected to it? or can it be the EGR? This is what I was told. Thanks guys

RE: Eclipse 95 GS need help
There are quite a few grounds. We weren't refering to the ground on the battery but instead the ground that takes the block or the chassis or the rear of the car to the batt ground. Also running with no O2 sensor WILL make the car run like COMPLETE @$$. Get the O2 installed because now the ECU doesn't know what the fuel mixture needs to be to run correctly. Could very likely be your problem right there. Having the O2 sensor will likely give you better gas mileage and a smoother ride. Now you will also need to replace the spark plugs as they're either burnt or fouled from running lean or rich. Keep driving without the O2 sensor and you'll clog the catalytic converter and be in a whole WORLD of hurt then.

RE: Eclipse 95 GS need help
well isn't it eclipse has 2 oxygen sensors? When I installed my header I didn't hook up my O2 sensor to the header. The header built with O2 sensor direct bolt on.
I went to pep boys today and the aftermarket sensor doesn't direct plug in with the stock cable. What should I do?
Can EGR be the problem with this matter?

You can cut and splice the wire in and not use the plug at all. As for the dual O2 sensors... That's even MORE crucial as the ECU checks between the 2 sensors and if the ECU detects TOO big of a difference between the 2 sensors I believe it retards the timing and runs rich. I could be mistaken but either way it's DEFINATELY not good for the engine.

I didn't replace anything. It's actually there. Both sensor are in place. The mechanic mentioned about bypass because I installed header instead of intake manifold. Can that be a problem too? Check engine light is on and the code says "Secondary Air Injection Malfunction." This code related to what the mechanic told me. That's what I know so far.

RE: Eclipse 95 GS need help
Secondary air injection? It's not EGR then it would say EGR if it was. Secondary air is how the car cools the precat so you don't get the exhaust gasses combusting in the precat. There should be a tube coming from the precat somewhere and running somewhere else. I'm not sure I don't have this system on my Quest (Removed it as my precat is gutted).
