Default Eclipse GSX VS. 3000gt VR4

There has been a lot of talk about which one is faster and which one performs better but I want opinions from people that actually own one. I will be posting a different one in the 3000gt forum too to see what they have to say about the difference.

My one friend told me that the GSX can be faster fully moded then a fully moded VR4 and has potential to get to 7-9 Seconds in the 1/4 mile.

Just want people's opinions on the GSX's VS the VR4's.

Why? Bench racing FTL...

But first off the parts for the GSX are much cheaper. And yes it will take alot less money to make a faster GSX. But IMO the vr4 is just a much nicer car to drive. Its alot smoother and more comfortable. And they can also be made just as fast. But there is no point in saying "oh well the gsx can be a 9 second car" becuase i highly doubt you will be taking it to that level. So id focus more on your budget, what you like about each, and what kinda goal you would ultimately be looking for.

yeah one guy in the 3000gt forum also said he has seen a 7 second eclipse and not a 7 second 3000gt, my friend told me he saw a GSX at the track once doing high 7's but not recently... Yeah really don't want to spend a whole lot just found out that eclipse's came AWD with the GSX. I got a good deal on a 1991 Mitsubishi 3000gt for $900... 110k miles, only thing wrong is something in the emissions on it. Plan on doing the AWD (NOT AWS) and Twin turbo upgrade. Then I saw this car and it looks alittle smaller, and cheaper but I don't know which one to go for ahh... I'll decide soon lol.

might want to reasearch the engine swap to AWD TT because it is not cheap or easy to do. Your better off buying one that is already TT.

It just depends on what you want. Both can be equally fast for the average person. I doubt you will be trying to build a 7, 8, or even 9 second car, therefore both are equally easy to make fast. We have been building dsm's and 3/S cars for over 10 years. The dsm's were designed to be more affordable, and the 3/S cars were more advanced, lots of creature comforts and extra gadgets built to compete against the top cars of the 1990's. It boils down to looks, which ever you prefer. I think it should also be noted that the 3/S cars can easily get that aggressive deep sound with a good exhaust whereas I have never heard any 4 cylinder car come close to that.

Wow this is a ****ing fastest eclipse I've ever seen...

Did 6.97 in the 1/4 mile... he says its a 6 second car... To me that time close enough to say it is a 7 second...

you can barely call that an eclipse except for the fact that it has a 4g63, everything else about it is barely an eclipse

I'm not sure if I'd consider that youtube video to be an "eclipse" either, but that's based on seeing a bunch of daddy's girls with spyders driving around completely stock every day, haha. But to the original post, I agree with Todd, it comes down to personal preference. I do know that parts for a VR4 or Stealth RT-TT are pretty expensive though, OEM and aftermarket. Not so sure about GSX parts, but I think most Eclipse parts are cheaper. Also, sound is no contest, VR4 wins every time IMO.
