Eclipse - locking the door with key in ignition
Hi All,
I have a question. In the north country we sometimes find it handy to start our cars, lock the door and return to a nice warm car. When it's -10 to -20 below zero it's almost impossible to sit in a cold car while it's warming up. Is there a way I can lock my door with my engine running?
Thanks in advance!

Sure you can lock the door witht he engine running. My Nissan does it automatically now (Well the alarm system does it actually) it's actually considered a safety feature. Just make sure you have a key to the door on the outside when you lock it LOL...

The doors do not lock. I think this is a safety feature so you don't have the problem you described, of locking your keys in the car. Is there an override or a trick that will work?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It is a safety feature to prevent you from locking your keys in the car- a simple way around it is to lock the door when the door is closed (engine still running). Of course this will mean that you have to use 2 sets of keys in order warm up your vehicle with this method.

As i said.. close the doors 1st then lock it with your 2nd key. It's the same thing as if you lock the door from the inside with the engine running. So long as the doors are closed...
