Default Engine Choices

The Eagle Talon I'm looking into buying is a shell at the moment and I have the option of either buying a 7 bolt or 6 bolt engine and I was wondering if you could tell me the pro's and con's of each and the difficulty of the installs. I know the major downfall of the 7 bolt is crankwalk but is there anything else I need to be wary of? This will be my first turbo dsm if the deal goes through and I'm just trying to plan the whole build out. Thanks

if you cant tell already, if you have the choice between a 6 or 7 bolt....6 bolt will always win with DSMers

your safe then.
im amazed theres so many 6 bolt motors out there yet they were only put in these cars from 90-92.5
i wont badtalk a good running 7 bolt, they have smaller rodsand journalsand besides the thrust bearing issue (crankwalk) they just cant handle the beating a 6 bolt motor will take.

jeez John that thing is still for sale? how much did you pick the shell up for? 7 bolts are easier to find and are just fine as long as you rebuild them. ppl that walk their cranks are just now doing it and i've never heard of it happening less than 90k into he car and usually it's a combination of user errors and not taking care of the car. so a 7 bolt is ok but if you don't want that one lil thing sticking in the back of your head like a splinter than you can go w/ the 6 bolt. it will ensure you not to walk but is more of a pita to install. good luck w/ ur build
