i swaped a 97 talon engine into my 96 eclipse rs 5speed and all is done but the CEL is on with code PO1294 i triple checked all the vaccume lines and wire connections and everything was good so what should i check now?

i took it to advanced auto and had them scan it and then had the garage across the street use there machine to check it and it came up with the same code

 

and they done know what the code is?. lol. the only thing i could say is take it to a mitsu dealer. does the car start and run fine?

 

yes the car starts and runs fine

 

maybe a knock sensor or somthing. im suprsied what they used didnt tell u what was wrong. i worked at a chevy dealership[ for awhile and they had a red brick that told u the code and exactly what was wrong.

 

are you saying u swaped a 4g63 into a rs?

 

i think he means just the 420a from talon into 420a eclipse.

 

I think you mean p1294 and the code is for "targeted idle not reached" Possible causes are: wiring/harness, connector, or iac motor.

 

I hope because if not then the codes could be endless, and i would upgrade to full coverage and roll it off a cliff.
