"boom" is exactly what I want to avoid. I can barely afford the car as is right now. Looks like after boot camp I will be looking to pick up a good GSX. I love mitsu but if you guys had a choice what other car would you choose to own and tune? I might be moving away from mitsu. Thats if I decide I wanna try something else.

It all depends really, if youre looking for something in a budget, and you can take all the crap, get a honda, if you're looking for a community and good hands on tunning you can turn to the Evo, or the Sti, there are lots of options, it all depends on your time/money ratio and interests

Edit>OH! and if youre gonna be serious about tunning, get a daily driver/backup car

I did the same thing, i got a RS before boot camp and learned to work on it and made it look nice and after my first tour where it was tax free, i bought my GST....sometimes wish i waited for a GSX, but i still love to drive it. (It was funny when i traded in my car, a black 97 RS for a black 97 GST.....the guy was like WTF! haha)

And if i had to chose, i would get an evo....doesn't matter which one. I used to have a Honda, but it took stupid amounts of money (almost as much as the 420a) to get it close to a GST's HP.

so i did some research...you can actually put a 4g63 engine into an eclipse rs/gs with little modification...and since you guys are talking about evos i figured id throw this in the evo8 engine is still the 4g63 and will bolt right up but its still gona cost ive seen pics of it done and looks good....go to google and type in ''eclipse evo 8 swap'' its actually pretty sweet...just thought id throw that in
