Would the PCV valve be visually "icky" or icky as in it's not doing it's job and I may need a new one? I pulled that off beings it was so easy to get to, and it looks surprisingly clean.

Ok, so I left the battery off over night. I've been sitting here for 30 minutes letting it run, revving it periodically to get the smoke out of the exhaust. No codes are showing, just says no DTCs are presently stored. Though I do still have the CAT, O2S, HTR, and EGR icons flashing. What do these icons mean? And if one of those things are bad, could it cause the other 3 to flash also?

The icons are just telling you which monitors are being checked. It has nothing to do with actual error codes and it doesn't indicate that there is a problem.

So you were still getting the smoke with the code cleared. This sounds to me like its not the o2 that is the problem. I would check into the couple things i mentioned

Sorry, just got home. I'm checking them here in a bit. Is a valve stem seal replacement a big job? How long "should" it take? And what will I need?
