Hi i am new to the forum but i have a technical question on tunning i've got a 97 gst spyder with upgraded turbo to4, fuel pump, intake, fmic, 3' exhaut, bov, fuel regulator but on stock ecu, to compensate the fuel mixture iam raising fuel pressure. I am running only 18 psi because i dont know how high i can let the exhaust get does someboby know how high it can go so i dont break a piston, right now ive regulated so it wont pass 1200 is that to high?????

 

depends on where you have it mounted, if your 2 inches out side of cyl 4 in the exaust manifold then your fine, but if your after the turbo in the down pipe then your at your limit. The car can hold up to temps of 1450 before you start to weld stuff togather... and thats the limit, if your pusing 1400 then your ***** are 50 degrees from the bandsaw. That temp rating, 1450, is only for the cyl 4 exaust runner, farther down stream the exaust cools< for example oil runs through the turbo cooling that down. So 1200 degrees after the turbo is similar to a extreemly hot reading, like 1400, at the manifold. Depending on where you have it mounted will be how much room you have to play with.
