Default GOod or bad

Okay.. well after buyin a new iginition coil and discovered the mounting bracket wasn't the same as the one i took out of my car. This made me curious and so i decided to call the person i bought the car off. When i purchased it was told there was a 6 bolt swap. So i thought it was just the bottom end. What i found out was a hole 1st gen 6 bolt engine was put in. So i now have 2nd gen eclipse body with a 1st gen engine. Is this bad ? and would i still be able to use the 2nd gen coils on the 1st gen engine.

If the coil wire fits on the coil then you can use it. Just have to get the bracket for it to fit. Also a 6 bolt swap IS a good thing.

Nice you got the whole swap. Thats a damn good thing!!!! No crankwalk Also its probably just easier to return the coil and get the right one

the ports in the 1g head are larger then the 2g, many people do a 1g head swap onto a 2g motor... well 1g 6 bolt anyway. it will work you just need a 2g mounting bracket.

ohh the 6 bolt swap install was already done by the previous owner. he bought the car used and it crankwalked and so he decided to just drop in an entire 6 bolt. Now its just giving me random missfire problem when cruising. Have to let rpm drop below 2k then i can accel. But as soon as i cruise for 10-20 seconds it will missfire. Still dont know why, would a blocked EGR and or malfunctioning EVAP system cause it to missfire. Just curious.

The evap should have nothing to do with a missfire. I'd look at distributor and rotor first see what condition they are in and get the right coil in the car.

thanks for some of the response. my progress so far is i got a new coil and to my bad luck its not the coil. next on my list to check is the CAM sensor since i remember the engine bay was washed and the person who washed it for me likely did not cover it. I have another cam sensor. If that doesnt' fix my problem then my next option is TPS. Wish me luck..
