I am buying my friend's 98 Eclipse. This sounds stupid, but the exhaust is too loud for my liking. I am not used to the big 3 inch exhausts. I want to buy a silencer. Is there a certain type i should buy?

Trade your 3 inch for one and some cash. If it is too loud you are not going to get much quieter without going back to stock.
The silencer is a good idea, but gets nasty and needs to be cleaned alot.
You can also get about 2-3 resonators welded in to quiet it up.
