RE: GST engine swap
www.japandomesticmotor.com has engines from Japan with low miles on them. They have 4G63 Turbo engines.

RE: GST engine swap
It's kind of tricky, the 1g's had almost the same FWD transmission. The 2g's had different engines between the RS/GS and GST's, or basically the non-turbo and turbo cars. The non-turbo cars used a chrysler designed transmission, which BTW is *very* durable, in stock trim it can withstand 450hp. The 4g63's use a Mitsubishi made transmission. Neither transmissions are related in anyway except for the fact that they're both found in DSMs. They don't share any internal or external parts(save for a few hoses i believe). Also, the 4g63 block will not mate up to the 420a transmission. They say you can fab an adapter kit to work, but that's much too expensive, and requires a bit of trial and error. If you are planning on doing the swap though, to my knowledge only 2 people have done it so far. However, they had complete donor cars, since so much needs to be changed. Almost nothing engine related is shared between the turbo and non-turbo 2g cars.

RE: GST engine swap
I am not EVER one to say do not do something. Hell, I am in the middle of a FWD-to-AWD conversion as we type.
This is one exception though. Trying to put a 4G63T engine in a 420a bay is going to require ALOT more than you should pay. It can be done, but at more cost than a new car. The entire engine bay needs to be transplanted basically.
