GSX to VR-4 Trans Swap
So I had my transmission looked at because it was giving me some trouble even after I put in my new clutch. Apparently it needs a rebuild and all that great stuff, probably around 2500 in parts and labor. The thing is I've been wanting a 6 speed for a long time and I know the VR-4 has one. It is also all-wheel drive. So heres my question, does anybody know if it is possible to swap a VR-4 tranny into a GSX? My GSX is a 95 and I know that they make the 6 speeds for the VR-4 from 97 to 99. Any info, concerns, anything would be greatly appriciated. Thanks guys, you have always been a great help before, I just searched for a while and couldn't find anything on this. Let me know.

I thought the GVR4 trans would go right in. you just have to use the transfer case along with it to make the gear ratios work out right cuz it makes it a 5.13 from a 4.92 with the same rear diff ratio.

my only real concern would be that i wouldnt have as good of low end torque in echange for top end... i dont know if it would be worth it, but wouldnt it be fun to have a 6 speed in an eclipse gsx? it would make highway cruising so much easier on gas.

with a 5.13 youd lose top speed and gain acceleration, plus 6 gears to help that i didnt know they had..... what year of car do you have? Galant VR4 trans swap ive heard goes right in the 1g cars and its stronger trans. What years of what cars are you lookin at?

I know the GVR4 trans and Tcase can be swapped into th 1G.... TheEngineer has the VR4 Tanny and T case for sale it came out of a GSX 1G . But the 6spds I want to say wre on the G VR4 with the v6 2.5l TT so that I doub will work iif that is the case

5 speed tranny would hook up the shiftind case in the interior right? but would i have to grab the shift case from the vr-4 6 speed as well as the tranny, transfer case? i just really want it to work, lol
