no it will not work. 2 totally different engines. just get a 7 bolt head and you will be fine. 7 bolts flow better than 6 bolt heads.

actually tj, the 91 gs is just a non-turbo 4g63 motor... im pretty sure the head would swap over, but im not sure you'd want too... but don't quote me on that

It will technically work... but it wont flow as better. Not to mention the cams are different in the non turbo head.

You can get a head from ebay (well they dont have knock off heads lol) and that will be just fine.

thats right, i forgot that 1g's gs's were 4g63's

but i agree with Sebba, it would probably work, but cams are different and probably wont flow well taking away HP

just get the 7 bolt head it flows the best out of all the 4g63's

please people read posts before you try and answer questions. Its not good to give this bad info. First off is this 91 GS a non turbo because for those years the GS's might be a turbo. If it isnt a GS, then is it a 2.0 or 1.8 non turbo? However i would say if it a non turbo then i wouldnt even bother swapping it in. But if it is a turbo engine then your only little problem is with the cam sensor will need to be rewired.

What exactly is wrong with the head?

ok ill give more information here, my friend has a 97 awd talon, and a 95 talon esi, i have a 95 awd talon and a 91 talon gs non turbo, his awd's head is out, not sure what is wrong with it but he said if i could find him a head for that car i could have the esi, which i need as a daily driver cuz my talon doesnt get very good gas mileage at all for a number of reasons, so say i gave him the head and he swapped the cams, would that still be crappy or would that make it right, cuz i know his cams are good, im actually not sure wats wrong with the head he prolly just ****ed with it one too many times who knows.

I agree, just go with the 2g head so that you don't have to mess around with re-wiring your cam sensor, plus the intake ports on the 1g are larger than the 2g. You'll either have to do an entire head/intake manifold swap or port out your existing manifold.

As for the flow, this topic has been beaten to death numerous times. It all depends on how you look at it. The 1g with the larger ports definetly flows more than the 2g; however, the 2g's port design is supposedly much more effiecent.
