If you can afford it, I would recommend new valves, lifter, springs, and everything else in between. No sense in getting a new, old, head just to have valve failure later. Also make sure the replacement parts is flat. Take it to a machine shop to have inspected and the necessary work done. Also check the block for possible warping.

Def check the block out. If the block has a related problem from the head then just replacing the head will lead to wasted time and money.

really, if you havent drove it much since your overheating started the block should be fine, but in regards to what silvercoupe said, when you buy a new head or a GOOD used head, it should come with valves and all that. .but if you ran it hot alot, you should check out the block also, but the head should be the only thing bad

yeah cause i never ran it hot at all. once it started going up i shut it off quick. and it still started and idled like a champ so its probably just the head right?

did you check the water yet? lol
most likely just the gasket is bad.
take your head off and take it to a machine shop and have it checked. dont just assume its warped.
99% of the time the cast block is fine.

ok so this 100% happened to me but i had a hose problem and just had to hit up the local autozone and got it fixed..my car overheated bad cause i was running late to school but i made it and i was fine afterwards..unless you see obvious problems with your head ide look around for a leak in your hoses or maybe something clogged..good luck though
