If the balljoint boots are ripped, the only way to remove any particles of dirt is to press a lot of grease through them as you would with wheel bearings. Another option would just to remove the old balljoints (by pressing them out with a press and that's if you can even replace them..not all are replaceable). You're better off just buying new arms with new joints on them.
What are you getting again? Are you replacing all of the control arms? How about buying a set or two a month? If you can buy two sets, buy the front sets first and then the rear set. The lower, curved control arm is the most important since it can cause you to lose steering capability...it's also under a life long recall (for the life of the vehicle). DO NOT let the dealership tell you any different. The straight piece will come out of your pockets and so will the rears.
