on my way home from work my car was and has been good then all of the sudden it sputterd like it was stalling then my car Shut off. when i turn the key it doesnt even attempt to start. my headlights and power windows and rear lights dont work either. im thinking its the alternater. help.... 99 spyder gs 5speed

 

If the motor cranks over, its not the alternator.

Check your fuses.

Its gotta be the alternator. Trying charging the battery and jumping the car. Then if it starts, take a volt meter and check it at the battery. Im guessing it will only be around 12 or less which points to the alternator. You can also take it to autozone and have it checked before you go and buy a new one

 

it ended up being a battery wire. thanks for the quick response. i replaced the wires and it crank and i forgot to deactivate my viper alarm which has a killswitch. then i did that n it started. thanks
