I don't drive an eclipse, but a buddy of mine has a gs.

140hp
130lb/ft torque

Now those numbers are for the motor when it's new and hasn't lost any compression over the years. Either way, you won't actually put 140hp to the ground, just to the flywheel. Here's something you probably didn't know: The motor in your Mitsubishi Ecliipse isn't a Mitsubishi engine.. ..*drum roll please*....it's a Chrysler Engine.

thanks mesaboogie but i thought that the spyder gs' engine was a normal mitsubishi engine and not the chrysler.... does it not matter that is a spyder?

As far as I know, Spyders and Regular Eclipses with the 4 Cylinder Motor both have a Chrysler Motor. If your car is an auto, you have a Chrysler Tranny as well. See, my Chrysler LeBaron has a Mitsubishi V6 in it, Chrysler and Mitsubishi share parts in all their cars ever since they joined forces.

The Eclipse is also a domestic vehicle, versus a Japanese import. So I guess they are maiz burners.
