Default Knock Sensor - - - clutch just replaced

Tuesday, 17 June 2008, 1640hrs

Dear Mitsu forum members:

I am trying to find the knock sensor on the following vehicle:

Year: 1997
Make: Mitsubishi
Model: ECLIPSE SPYDER GS
Engine size: L4 2.4 Liter FI
Engine details: 4G64 2351 cc VIN G O.H.C.- SOHC

I am looking for it to run a test on the sensor, for I believe it is defective.

___________

The chief complaint is:
When ever the vehicle is started [cranked] it will start, though it will start and stay rough [as if a spark plug is missing, misfiring, or plug cables are connected incorrectly], the eclipse will stay on for approx. 30 seconds, then it will shut off.

During the 30 secs. or so that the vehicle is idling, the RPM needle dances somewhere in the 400-500 RPM range.

I replaced the clutch a few days back [obviously the tranny was slapped in and out], various harnesses, connectors, and the starter was disconnected.

Prior to the clutch replacement - - - the engine...[the forum does not allow me to post my full question statement]......please go to:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/lbg/721002405.html

to read the complete explanation statement.

I thank you for your time.

The knock sensor should be on the back of the engine under the intake manifold. It should have a single wire connector.

Thank you for the info, I am not sure if you clicked on the link - - - I stated in the complete explanation that I blogged over at craigslist link, that it was my belief that the Knock Sensor was suppose to be in the rear of the block, under the intake-mani.

Though this eclipse has the Mitsu 2.4 engine [Spyder's were equipped w/this one for some reason], and the Japs did not include aKnock Sensor with this engine. I have updated my blog wih such statement, while I still search for the ailment that is causing the vehicle to stall.

Thankyou anyhows.

Do you wishfor the PC Mods?

The 4g64 doesn't come with a knock sensor ... that could be why you can't find it anywhere on the motor, bud.
