Depends on what car you have, if you have a 420a the oil light will come on if you make a hard left hand turn... which is "normal" for that to happen. The problem lies with the oip pan shape and the amount of oil its suppose to have. 4.5 quarts is too much and creats drag on the crank, 4.00 is too little, during hard left hand turns the crank starves for oil. 4.25 seems to be the best level, but thats only if you have a 420a.

How long between changes have you been, 3000 miles your light shouldnt come on. and if it does that is not a good sign. I do my oil fully synthetic Moble 1 oil and filter every 1500-2000 Miles...better safe than sorry
I mean I am driving to Mass I am changing my oil before I go and after I get there it is a 1500 mile drive

to me as long as its under a quart adding some is ok. It really won't effect anything. I guess it also depends on how long its been since the last change. after 1500-2000 you might as well do it.
