it has been done before, so it is possible. But the amount of work involved and there is at least 2k in this just from parts.

The 420a isn't a lost cause, put some forged pistons, rods, and a decent turbo setup and you've got a contender.

its funny....seems like for a while all i hear is how weak the 420a is and its waste of money to mod it and now lately all i've been hearing is how strong of a motor they can be...which i like to hear by the way

fastest one I have seen was 12.8, and that one was running some serious psi (26 psi), but 420a's in general are a'right. Neons for example. The 98 neon r/t has the same exact motor, just with a different head. My one buddy has one boosting 20psi and that thing runs a little faster then a clips due to the weight, but at the track he got into the mid 12's.

No disrespect but everything you listed in my mind doesn't add up to thousands of dollars. By no means does its sound like something you do in a weekend but doesn't sound impossible. Yea its quite a bit of work but if you have the skills to do it I dont think its as hard as it is time consuming. brackets & fuels lines are a pretty easy thing to do.
If you can find a long block motor in running condition with tranny for under 1g you sould buy it because someone is letting it go for a stupid low price. BTW I dont think you understand the totality of this. The whole motor, tranny, electrical system, fuel system, and suspension system has to be removed, and replaced with everything from a 2g 4g63 for it to work right. Mitsubishi pays engineers to desgine the way everything goes togather on these cars and you think its not going to cost more then 1000 dollars. I think john is the only engineer here and he agrees that this is something thats shouldn't be done. If it were easy and cheap everyone would do it. On the biggest 420a online community with over 9000 members not one person has done it... their is a reason for that.

I dont care anymore about motor swap. I never plan on doing it so bicker about it anymore. What I would like to know is roughly what it would cost to beef up my 420a just a lil bit. For right now it has to be my daily driver. I dont plan on taking it to drag strips on the weekends or anything I just waiting some put me in my seat fun. To be able blow the door off civics and such that dont have thousands of dollars in engine mods. Would a small turbo set up with exhaust, CAI do the trick??? Maybe one day i'd like to completely build up one when its not my daily driver, what would that cost roughly???

A turbo in no way is a "slap it on forget about it" mod like an intake or an exaust. IF you want a good daily driver with some get up and go. Invest in a hedder, intake, some sticky tires and a off road pipe w/ and exaust cut out. That should make you run a mid/low 16, and cost close to 800 dollars. If you want a turbo setup you can make one for under 1000 dollars but you need to be mechanically inclined and able to weld and such. If not expect to spend some where around 21-2300 for a setup from hahn or star. That would include cost of the kit, shipping, and odd ends that are needed(gaskets, sealent, filters, a special socket you have to buy to get the oil press sensor out of the block that your only gone to use once which now sits in your basment and was a waste of 30 bucks).

Bottom line is that if you boost the 420a you WILL have to rebuild it, depends on how much boost you feed it but generally it can run for a long time on 5psi, which would put you a mid 15/low 15. 10psi will throw you a second lower depending on your launch and shifting but, your motor wont last more then 6 months with your current milage.

Turbo setups are alot of work and take dedication... and some cash, if you serious want to read more into it pm me and I will send you some sites that have more indept information then I care to relate at this time.
