anything more than the trans and adding the shifter and clutch parts.
That alone can be pretty taxing to the wallet in both parts and labor considering the amount of custom work that may need to be done if brackets need to be fabricated for the clutch pedal and shifter base. But there may be more to this transplant such as the clutch hydraulic system and possibly the motor/tranny mounts and CV axles, flywheel, starter, etc.. And maybe even an ECU (if his current ECU is looking for certain signals from the TCM)...?

That bad to swap between an AT and MT? I never would have thought you'd have to change the transaxles or anything more than the trans and adding the shifter and clutch parts.
thats a bad joke right?

For good parts(new) and a job done right be expected to pay anywhere to 5g's

tranny-1200
ecu-450
cluch-299
flywheel-325
shifter-100
starter-140
master cyl-108
slave cyl-89
clutch pedal-80?
shifter cables-50?
bushings-30
clutch line-20
axles-120
tranny mounts-??

thats 3g's right there and thats not including bull **** stuff like all of the fabercation work and the labor. Plus I am positive that there is a **** load of other things needed like a new center concle and gay things like that.

i've got the time the place and all the necessary tools... i just need the guts and know how... I went to a local salvage yard today, and the guy there said that the 95's have 3 splins, and I'm all confused... im not exactly sure what he meant by that, but im guessing that its got something to do with the placement of the tranny and the transaxles... so now im scared to buy another transmission period... any light?

K now hold on I thought the mounting would have been the same and granted some stuff I hadn't thought about (Slave cylinder master cylinder whatnot) most of that stuff costs are negligable and the center console I believe is exactly the same. The splines are indeed part of the transaxle. Like I said though I didn't think the AT and MT had mounting that was THAT much different. Also why would you need a new ECU? I thought that you'd just be able to remove the PCM but didn't think the ECU was involved in that perspective. See this is why I'm RESEARCHING it before attempting anything or buying parts.

my friends dad made his brothers na 300zx a manual from an auto tranny all himself, and i can say from watching the process that is was a huge pain and not an easy job. that guy is a genius, and after he finished he said himself it wasnt worth it, but cool that he was able to. just go get a different car if its that important.
