Default intake solutions in a 4g63

i've got a 95 eagle talon tsi, and i threw on a custom intake with a k&n filter. I went to test, and i got a MAF code... [:@]
I actually tried replacing the MAF, and it still threw the code... So I returned to the stock intake...and cried on the inside a little... does anyone know what the hell my car's bitching about?

when you put on your custom intake, did you hook the MAF sensor back up?

yea, i hooked it back up with both MAF's... it just wouldn't idle right... it would start, idle really low, then die...
i even ended up burning my front O2 sensor somehow....so i replaced that... it's been a big mess for something so simple...
pretty discouraging

Sounds like a problem with the maf inputs/ECU somewhere. Need to get a datalogger and see the MAF readings see what they're doing. Sounds like the MAF sensor is telling the engine it's getting a hell of alot of air thus making the ECU dump extra fuel to compensate which puts out more carbon and thus clogs up the O2 sensor.

tell us what intake you bought. where did you hook it on, directly to the turbo? or the maf black box? alll you need for an eclipse is an air filter/adapter for $60 and it should be fine

It sounds like either the MAF isnt installed right or you didnt hook up you BOV to recirc back into the intake like it should. Are you VTA or recirc. if the BOV doesnt recirc it can throw a code and the idle will bounce. did you remove any of the upper IC pipe to install it you also could have a leak.

I have a custom made intake on the EVO had a bouning idle and a check engine light when I was VTA untill I made a dump off for it now it runs fine.

Here is a few pic of my intake and how I recirc'd the BOV I just welded in a small pipe into the bottom of the intake

it should be fine then. try reseting the ecu. jus disconnect your neg batter terminal for a couple minutes, then let your car idle for 7minutes before you drive away and see if that fixes it.
