Default my 97 gst has a problem boosting

im new to this site and pretty new to turbo charged cars my gst just recently blew its engine becuase the dumbasses i bought it from had the boost controller setup all backwards and i was boosting atleast 25 psi so i roasted that engine bought a rebuilt turbo 4 cylinder the stock gst and swapped out the lil turbo to keep my 16g and whenever im stomping on it it just runs absolutely as rich as it can around 5000 5500 rpms and loses its power. i was told that i need to upgrade my cpu or buy some kind of chip for it so it will stop is there any one out there that knows anything about this. your replies would be awesome thanks

did you just throw on the 16g turn up the boost and not upgrade the fuel system?(i.e. injectors, fuel pump, s-afc?)

sounds to me like you have an air leak. Also how do you know its running rich? what are you using to determine this

11 psi seems extremely low to run on a 16g. Likehe said check if you have upgraded injectors and fuel pump. What is a fuel relay? Sounds like the guy you bought it from didn't know what he was talking about or doing. You'll need something to control fuel such as a wideband or a SAFC

no i really dont trust the work the guys did on my car before i got it but they installed a fuel gauge to see if runs to rich or to lean and i really hope theres no air leaks. the injectors that where in it where for a nissan pickup i thought that was strange so now they are the stock eclipse injectors i would assume. and my waste gate before they had stuck wide open dont know if that helps but before i had so much power and now it almost seems gutless. you guys are a great help

If you got a ****ty narrowband fuel guage that only has the lights on it, then that is telling you nothing at all. When you floor it, it is supposed to hit the rich area. So that means absolutely nothing. Now if you have a wideband then that is a whole different story. But really what you need to do with this car is tune it. And the reason its slower is cuz your running less psi.
