the throdle cable isnt binding.. can the iac leak???? cause in geting a boost leak, i can hear it but i cant find it..the leakis behiend the throdle body. comeone said check the iac??? but what am i checking??? i dont know what im looking for..

 

oh i just got the motor rebuild, about 5000miles ago.. and i have a mls head gasket and arp head studs.. so i dont think it could be water... but idk.. im still kinda new at working on imports..

 

If you said you can hear a leak with a boost leak test i would check all vac lines with a vac leak test if it leaking during boost it prob leaking while you are pulling vac my car pulls about 15lbs. of vac at idle. First thing i would suggest is start the car get some starter fluid and spry each connection "vac line" Biss and IAC located under the elbow has a whit top or black top looks like a solenoid. if u hit a vac line that is leaking you should hear the car idle higher because the starter fluid got through. as far as the testing of the IAC http://www.dsm.org/how-tos/tttt/tttt3.htmlthis is off of vfaq now it is IAC or as they call it ISC When you got to order the part i found napa called it a IAC valve.

 

There are o-rings in the throttle body that can leak, thats probably what you hear. Iac's dont "leak."

Try tapping on the iac and see if the idle changes at all. You can alsoohm out the coils to see if the iac is good.

i pulled the plug off the iac.. and its idling at 1500 now.,.. so thats the problem.. so do i have to buy a new iac???

 

You can get a new one but thee not cheap. Try checking the coils just to be sure.

 

sounds like it is part of the issues but if it was the IAC alone it should idle normal because it should not adjust at all. You need to find where the boost leak is coming from they both could be contributing factors.
