Default N/A mods

I have a 99 eclipse gs and I am still depating wether to put a stage 2 hahnracecraft turbo kit or N/A mods. How much hp and torque would I get if I went N/A and what are all the N/A mods I could do? I know there is CAI(which I have), Underdrive pulleys(I have) exhaust(getting really soon) and a bored out throttle body. What other NA mods are there that I can do? The best brand that these mods come in would be greatly appreciated too[sm=smiley20.gif]

If you wanna get any real power you will have to do some engine work, porting ect. Along with that you'd have to upgrade the fuel system and probably get an engine managment system if you wanna see anything large. You'd be better off as far as money, time, and ease with the turbo kit. Plus it's a hell of a lot quicker then gradually building everything up and tuning it all. The turbo will require tuning too and some of the same things as if you weren't doing with forced induction but not as much.

NA 420a's usually tap out at around 180hp while still being streetable. That's with some wild cams and some major port work. You can also do the stroker thing and drop in a 2.4l 420a. There's commonly available and cheap, and would give some good torque numbers if you went NA. Fo a good street setup, i'd say get the port work done, Extrude Hone the stock intake manifold, get a decent header, switch to the Dodge Neon ACR cams, and get some nitrous. That should give you enough power and very good driveability. Plus, it won't cost as much as a turbo kit. Those are my suggestions though, if you want exponential power gains, go with the turbo kit.

Yea, streetable is def the key word, that's one of the great things about turbos is you can have lots of power but still drive it easy around town without problems.

Man, I can not spell, can I? After re-reading my last post on here, i can't believe how many spelling and grammar errors there are....Oh well. 99eclipse guy, i think i remember seeing something about the Jeep 4.0l throttlebody can fit onto the 420A, although i can't remember for sure. Search around the internet, perhaps you could buy one of those and have it bored out so you'll get all the air you'll ever need. Once again, you can always search through the cloud car sites, they have ton's of info and performance mods for that engine.

Does anyone Know if I can put a Crower Stage 2 Cam on my stock valvetrain for my 420A engine. The specs for the Cams are as follows:

Or would stage 1 be better to not ruin the stock valvetrain

Description Advertised Duration Gross
Duration @ .050" Lift w/1.75

Stock Factory O.E.M. Cam specs (Eclipse non-Turbo 420A) 219 / 221 166 / 172 .273 / .323

Stage 1 - works with stock valve springs. Daily driver. Idle to 6700 rpm 230 / 231 176 / 182 .293 / .340

Stage 2 - Agressive street use or nitrous. Idle 1000 to 7000+ 240 /240 192 / 192 .310 / .355
