Launch RPM is a trial and error thing. Depends on Track/road conditions, tires, and you power curve. Also the question of clutch dumping or feathering. Someone else will have to answer which is better. My 95 GST launches @4K but i have very sticky tires and lots of practice on my clutching. Everywinter we snow dragrace in our old Comunity colleges parking lot. Great practice for applying power to the ground. Best advice is practice launch making sure you use the same clutching every time. Consistency is key.
