Default Need advice on what oil is used in a......

WOW, I had some experience today. My 99 standard 5 speed is on the bench during a clutch job. Mechanic decided to drain fluid which turned out to be red ATF that has been in there for 65000 miles (last clutch job)? I called 4 dealers and spoke to the mechanics in service and kept getting two answers on what to replenish the tranny with. Two said 75-90 G4 gear oil, others said special ATF.... What to do???? Hope my local NAPA guru and I made right choice. I bought 2 quarts of Purple something brand Synthetic GS 4/GS 5 75-90 gear oil. Did I decide correctly?? Thanks, Ed

Thank you, I did choose Royal Purple 75-90. Drove car today and shifts real sweet.... Also feels good to have a new clutch Kit (SACHS) and Flywheel (ACT). Next comes a Cat back system? Long overdue. Edster
