Alright, so my b-day just passed and now ive got the money i need to buy a new audio system for my 97 GS. I went on crutchfield.com knowing that i wanted Alpine Type R's all the way around, subs and all. I told the site that i had a 97 eclipse and it generated a list of what would fit. The rear are 5 1/4 and the front can support up to 6 3/4. The Type R's fit but i want to know about the difference between component speakers and just plain speakers. I know the component speakers come with tweeters but i don't know what the little box thing in the picture is. And if I get component speakers for the front, can i still put component speakers in back? And most of all I want to know what ppl think of Type R's cuz everywhere I've looked they've received excellent ratings. Thanks a lot.

 

If you're looking a component set in crutchfield, the little box is most likely a crossover. You hook your Stereo up to the crossover and it will separate the hi end sounds for your tweeters.
