if you have a compressor or a friend who owns a compressor you can make a boost leak tester very cheap... about a foot of 2 1/2" pvc pipe, 90degree bend, another 4-6". on one end have a coupler, on the other end a tap for a air hose to pressurize it... then hook it up, compress it and there you go.

it's not hard at all... with all of the components you are looking at probably 15-20bucks most.

Well, aren't you talking about turbo whine? Isn't some of this acceptable? My stock T-25 whines when it goes into boast and most mechanics say thats normal. To me thats the sound a turbo charged car is suppose to make. Also, if you have a boast gauge see check to see how it makes boast - does it go over the target then go back down or go over. These are tell tale signs that you have spiking or creep. For me when I had a leak, there was a noticible drop in power.

Im pretty sure its a boost leak. The car started making the whistle about 6 months after I bought it. One day that whistle just showed up, and my car lost some power. My girlfriend even noticed that the sound was different than normal. Now there is a very big drop in power, my a/f gauge goes to 10.0, my boost gauge goes to about 20psi, which istoo high, and will buck if I push it, which I belive is fuel cut.

I talked to my mechanic, he said a throttle body plate was slightly melted, but he didn't know how it could happen since it is aluminum, possibly causing a leak. Maybe the compressed air was hot enough to melt aluminum? Anyone ever heard of this before?
