so im looking at replacing my back brake pads and it says i need a special driver tool? to get the piston into the caliper again? I have been searching websites and cant find anything that relates. I have done the front ones before and just used a c clamp. will that work?

 

and it says to loosen the e brake inside the car?

It's only required on the 1G rear calipers because they have a different setup for the parking brake. A c-clamp will work fine or you can buy the tool used to push the piston back, available in any auto parts store.[/align][/align]

yea i actually have a tool that expands and pushes the piston back into the caliper... but a c-clamp will work just fine... and as for the e-brake on the inside it might just mean to let it down... but if you ever want to adjust it all you have to do is pull up the piece where the cupholder/cigarette butt is and there is a screw in there that you have to turn either way you want to adjust it

 

oh yeah remeber to take off your brake fluid res cap. Its alot easier to compress the caliper as leaving it on will mess up some cars ABS. Also gets sum lithium grease to lube up you caliper. I personally use lithum for the slider screws and use antiseize on the bake of the brake pads so it won't squeel.

 

Ive always used a c clamp.. And a small piece of wood so I dont have metal on metal..

 

I push it in manually....

 

if you can push it in manually then something's wrong with your calipers...

 

c-clamp has been the way i have done it, touhght that way and it works so y change it
