what is the highest milage on an eclipse that anyone out there should get and it still be dependable?

at what milage would u have to get a new turbo on a stock eclipse gst?

Is there any difference on the stock gst's from 1995 to 1999?

i know a kid who had a 1991 eagle talon tsi awd and it had 205k on it and it still ran good, needed a turbo but was started every day and went down the road. there is no real set limit you need to get a new turbo, it just depends. and i think from 97-99 the body styles changed and i think thats it.

you can buy any car at any mileage as long as it was well kept up with and not abused

it all depends on how hard you drive your car... if you are redlining and racing every stop light and not propperly cooling it or anything you may have to replace a turbo as soon as 20k on stock set up. things to help this are a turbo timer (or just let your car sit after every time you use it). keep up with your oil, make sure that the lines arne't pinched or being blocked.

90-99 turbo editions all have the same motor the 4g63, the 95-99 non turbos have the 420a. the only differences in the 95-99 body style came in 97 when they gave the eclipse a new front facia, a new turbo spoiler on the gst and gsx versions and upgraded 17' rims on the gsx.

are you asking these queestions for any particular reason, mabey we can give you better answers if we know what you are realy looking for.

i posted this due to the fact that i am looking for a good eclipse and i did not know if i should keep the milage in mind. i have seen many stock turbos not working after awhile so i was wondering if that was the owners fault or if it was more on the engine

the 4g63 is a very strong and well build engine that can take a lot of abuse however like in any engine to much abuse will lead to problems with a lot of different things. to be honest its really a matter of the seller being straight up with you i mean you could buy a (what seems to be) nice gs-t but in reality all he did was put some no smoke in the engine because of 2 blown piston rings, put some soap on some belts that need to be changed, and never changed the oil... and you wouldn't know any different untila bout 100 miles later when the car starts to smoke and squeel and end up spending a grand to fix it...
