Default Racing GST Stock vs GSX Stock

Hey Everyone,
I have a stock auto gsx and nothing special to it. I raced a stock gst manual. I know how to race and launch my car and under normal circumstances I can rev to about 2500 rpms. I drop the gear into 2nd and take OD off then shift to 'D' after 6k then after another 6k I hit 'OD'. We lined up I spooled to only bout 2k rpms and we were off. I of course got the launch however I lossed with my nose on his rear 1/4 panel. Now what I don't understand is how the f**k can I loose? Is there THAT much difference from an auto and a manual?? Help a disgruntled lost respect tuner

Yes, also the skill of the driver may play a role. I know osme guys that shift faster then an at tranny. I dont know about the auto 4g63 but with the 420a their is a power difference between the at and mt.

Basically, then in order for an auto to stand a chance vs anyone I really need to have about 50 hp more and an IPT tranny huh. I am having a hard time getting this thru my thick skull that there is that much of a difference even with similar amounts of HP. I mean an auto is always on boost just put your foot into and go..lol

Well gear ratios also have something to do with it

GSt's are also faster than gsx's unless the gsx gets a big leed off the line like it should, but i dont think with an auto you can get the leed you should be. Becuase i know with my AWD i would launch it around 5-6k

its not a hp difference, its the hp at the crank thats not reaching the wheels. For drag racing most of the time auto is faster becuase its so consistant. But in a case like this its slower, if you to a stall that would help, you would be able to launch alot harder.

autos are slower in mitsu case.... all autos they have run like .2 slower than manual trannys. they have more tranny power loss.

in the supras case it is much different and it isnt cause of consistancy it is cause of gearing.
