ran...... then crank but no start
my 1997 rs worked fine for a few errands.....then I stopped and it would not start. I checked the spark...in fact changed the plugs...good spark. While I had #1 out I visually saw that gas was being injected. I'M perplexed....I have fuel and fire but the car wont start. Anyone else have a simular experience? What were the steps of your solution?

The problem was the cold air sensor. The way to start is drain oil...remove plugs...let excess fuel evaporate...I left overnite. New plugs in morning and oil change. Then to Mitsubishi. The error message indicated the cold aair sensor. The way it was explained was that the computer in car was receiving a signal that it was sub-zero. Dumping fuel and flooding. Was about a $200 repair. Not covered under drivetrain warranty.

I have a 88 supra that went in for a cracked head gasket. ran fine ,as it could with a blown HG, before it went in..they replaced the HG put it back together..and no start..cranked fine, like it was just out of gas. $400 bucks, 1 ecu, a new set of plugs/wires, and countless bruised knuckles later...I found out it was out of time..180 out.

Good luck

well i got my car back from the mechanic and my problem was that the valve cover gasket was cracked, and was leaking into the spark plug holes, which was causing the problem of the car cranking away, but notbeing ableto start. they replaced the gasket and grommets and it's running awesome, and no more trouble starting. only cost $124 to fix, not bad.

Mine did the exact thing but all that was wrong was a wire that went to the starter solinod under the dash came loose. I just rewired it back together. Try to check your starter and see if its getting power and if its not clicking or kicking overthan it is bad. If it isnt getting power take the panel off thats on the side fo the center console passenger side of the car located where the radio is and everthing and there will be like two black boxes check and see if its getting power if it is and its not clicking when you try to start it than that is your problem. It costed me 65 bucks to fix.

they charged you 124 bucks to change the valve cover gasket and plug seals.

Holy over priced mechanics job batman..thats was way too expensive. It takes like 20 minutes to change those seals out. Next time if they tell you what it is and its just a seal replacement, especially on top of the engine liek that, take it home and do it yourself..CHilton's works wonder...I promise
