Default rear knocking noise after new coilovers

Ok, my suspension sux, so I went and bought some coilovers. They work great, but the thing is this knocking noise I was trying to fix (out of many things) has not gone away.

The noise is a knocking sound and even rattles sometimes. I hear it on both sides. It was there before I put on the coilovers.

I read some posts that said it could be something related to my sway bars, like broken bolts or bad bushings. I also read that the rattling could be from my control arms?

Is that correct?

Thanks

yup i would have suggested those two things exactly. The sway bar bushings is pretty easy to see right behind the tires. Try and shake the car, if you can hear it clunking then its probably the sway bar. If you cant then its probably the control arm which is more expensive

Ha, I know you would Engineer, one of the posts I was referring to was your answer! Lol

Thanks for the heads up, let's hope I hearing it clunking when I shake the car.

Might want to also check the top strut mount. I just had my strut bust through mine last week being so rusted out.

that happened to me too... but he would have caught that while he was replacing the coilovers... it would be impossible not to, literally

This is true but I was thinking that maybe it happened after he put on the new coilovers (mayber a stiffer coilover, causing more force to be put on the top mount than the old one). But even then I would hope he would notice that it was so rusted and needing replaced that he would have gone and done it then.

so have you checked either of the ones i suggested. The Sway bar bushing you can see from under the car and the control arm you can see when you have the tire off.

My girlfriend's Taurus is doing that on the right front....She needs to have the sway bar link replaced...There is a lot of slop in it and it rattles, clanks, and bangs every now and then. Working for a Ford dealership has its perks

Yea N/Teclipse and Sk8, I replaced three of the strut mount plates, but reused whatever rubber was not included in the coilover kit.

Engineer, I shook the car and didn't hear a thing. I haven't taken the tire off, but will over the weekend. I'm too busy eatin turkey! Lol

I'll get back to you all.

Thx
