Default rough idle

well i just became the owner of a 1998 eclispe rs 2.0l non-turbo automatic transmission. i got it for the gas mileage and the fact that i happen to like the way it looks. but anyways here is the problem when i start the car it idles fine for a few min. then it starts to do this surge thing. where it jumps from 750 to 2000 sometimes. the only thing that i have done to it is change the spark plugs put a cold air intake on it and an msd ignition. i have changed out the pcv the iac and the tps. the cel is reading a code for p1495 (leak detection pump solenoid i believe). i found where it is but i just dont know what to do from here on in i need some one with a little more expierience on mitsu's to give me a freakin clue as to what the heck i can do to fix this thing.... driving me nuckin futs.

am i going to have to pull the engine to do that. or can i just take the front right tire off so that i can see the timing marks on the engine case.

well i checked the timing i did not have to pull the engine but it was fun still yet. as far as i can tell all the lines match up so it has to be in time. is their an idle screw on this year model 1998 eclipse rs dohc non turbo 2.0

usually idle surge will have something todo with either a vacuum leak in one of the lines, a crack in the intake manifold or a leak around the gaskets. Or it will have to do with the Idle Air Contol (IAC) sensor

But that code is pointing toward the EVAP solenoid (aka leak detection pump) i would check the lines going to it once youve found it and make sure they are niether clogged or have a hole in it. And check the vaccum lines. also check the harness at the pump

well i have traced the vacuum lines that i could see, and have looked around the intake mainfold a bit and can find no leak how ever the vacuum line that runs underneath the car going back to the leakdetection pump i am having a hard time traceing it down i will have to put it up on stands or something so that i can look at it i guess. does anyone know where the air filter for the LDP is? some manuals say that it is in the front of the car and others say that it is in the back by the gas tank. some pics would be helpfull in this situation.

I'm thinking it is the pile of emissions stuff that is in front of the passenger side front tire in the corner of the frame. Vaccuum lines follow down by power steering pump.
