Should I buy this Eclipse???
I found a 1995 GT-S eclipse for $3,000 with 158,000 miles pure stock no aftermarket. Its in amazing condition. No rust, paint shines like its new. Garage kept. I test drove it the clutch is smooth, engine sounds great, turbo spools fast. I'm thinking its a good deal. I just want a second opinion.
did he say how firm he was on the deal? if hes not willing to budge far then i wouldnt get too greedy with talking him down. Its definitely a good deal but make sure you dont get outdone by someone who is willing to pay full price or a just a little less.
Yeah I went and said 2700 cash tuesday. ( won't have it till then ) he said he would talk to his wife and let me see. Their having a baby so he really needs the money. He said he'll take 3,000 that blue book is 3,200 and he posted 200 below it. He also said blue book also does not take into consideration the rarity of the car. He made a valid point the CLOSEST GS-T in not even close as shape as his was 254 miles away and they wanted 3,500. So i'm taking it. I'm getting it tuesday and putting a Tial Blow off valve on it. The stock one is plastic and is crap lol. Any suggestions for mods??? Thanks guys you helped a lot.
I wouldn't boter changing the intake too much with it being a turbo. Exhaust and feul system are my bets there. Oh and possibly intercooler (Get a front mount instead of the stock side mount
)
)
go to the auto store, spend $30 on a compression tester and take it with you. If it passes take it home with you. Unless you want it as a project car (which it is still worth it for the price) the compression is the most important thing to check.
service manual says best: 178psi
service limit: 118 psi
Personally i wouldnt touch it if it was any lower than 150 psi. Also, make sure all the cylinders are within 10psi of eachother. If 1 or 2 are really low it probably has a blown head gasket or worse.
