Default some kind of coolent problem

hey guys... got kind of a wierd situation, i replaced my thermostat about 2 weeks ago, well it was runnin a lil wierd for about a week and my friend aske me if i let it idle w/ the cap open to get rid of all the air... uhhhhhh no lol so i did that and it was runnin greeat ever since however today when i went to start my car it wouldn't crank, it would turn but wouldn't crank and the overflow tank was gushing, i basically lost all of my fluid, when it was done gushin i took the radiator cap off and it seemed like there was tremendous air pressure in there, i got a lot of air and hardly any coolant. after that it cranked fine, i let it run while refilling it and it was fine again... that was this morning. just now my car did the exact same thing, it's getting annoying and expensive anybody have any ideas on what this is???????

yeah im thinking your thermostat isnt opening soon enough. Sounds like it just lets your coolant boil then let it out.[&:]

oh wait....what do you mean it would turn but wouldnt crank? what would turn? what wouldnt crank? if youre saying what i think youre saying, its a bad gasket, and your cylinders are all filled up with coolant.

Sounds like a blown head gasket. Does the car overheat when driving? Did the car overheat before you did the thermostat and whatnot?
